(Deutsch) Temporäres Denkmal Berliner Mauer
WRITE THE WALL

“Write the Wall” is the alternative means of marking 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The temporary monument made up of pieces of wall combines and connects education and art, experience and remembrance, in the new art district of Heidestraße. Be it locals, tourists, award-winning artists, historians or those who witnessed The Wall first-hand – everyone is invited to mould this social sculpture. Using free forms, “Write the Wall” enables aesthetic access to the history of democratic revolution in Europe in 1989. The public installation is a place for remembering the ephemeral, a cinema screen with rolling credits – the listed names of its visitors, for painting, sculpture, video art, graffiti and performance.

Every minute of the four-month formation process will be photographed by the Berlin art collective Artitude e.V and automatically documented and archived on the Internet platform WWW.WRITETHEWALL.NET – accessible at anytime from anywhere in the world.
